Rick grew up with a strong work ethic.  His dad was a draftsman and electrical engineer and his mom was a clerk/typist.  His grandfather was a milkman for 30 years and his grandmother cleaned houses.

Rick started working at age 12 as a paperboy.  Growing up Rick worked as a janitor, garbage man, security guard and caddy.  In 1976 he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Penn State University.  His first job out of college was that of a Peace Corp Volunteer.

When Rick came to Miami in 1981 he had a variety of jobs from selling computer paper to financing heavy construction equipment.  Eventually he went into banking as a trust officer.  During this time Rick went to night school where he earned a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) and a Master's in Public Administration (MPA) with a specialization in Budgets and Cash Flow from the University of Miami.

While working at the bank, Rick realized that the quality of advice and level of service was based on the size of the customer's balance.  The minimum account balance was so high that the working middle class, like his family and friends, did not qualify.

Rick decided to provide quality advice and service to the working people.  He once again went to night school to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERÒ practitioner in 1991 and a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) in 1993.

Since 1991, Rick has been dedicated to helping employees of FPL and Bell South as well as police officers and teachers plan for retirement.

Rick has been a volunteer instructor for Finance for the Small Business Administration workshops through SCORE. He has been on the Board of Directors for the Children’s Home Society Foundation and Florida Endowment Fund for Education.  He has been the President for the Miami Rotary Club and currently is on the Boards of Directors.  Rick is a member of the University of Miami Citizen Board.
